**Subject area for the position:**
Business Administration with a specialisation in Management Control

**Location:**
Växjö. As Linnaeus University has operations in both Växjö and Kalmar, travel between the two locations may occur.

**Scope and duration of employment:**
The position is a fixed-term appointment in accordance with Chapter 5, Section 7 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance. The position is full-time.

**Starting date:**
January 2027 or by agreement.

**Job Description**
The doctoral student is expected to conduct research and complete their thesis in the field of management control. The doctoral student will be part of an environment where research is conducted from a broad perspective on management control issues and across a wide range of empirical contexts. We are particularly looking for candidates who are interested in the consequences of different forms of management control – for example, what happens to individuals and organisations when they are subject to different forms of management control, and how is management control affected when conditions change, for instance through reforms or changes in the external environment.

Those admitted to doctoral studies will participate in GATE – the Graduate School of Advanced Technology and Enterprising – and collaborate with organisations in Småland. The GATE Graduate School is an interdisciplinary initiative run by the School of Economics and the Faculty of Engineering at Linnaeus University. The aim of the research school is to address the challenges that globalisation, technological development and environmental and climate change pose for businesses. In addition to being of high academic relevance, the subject area and research questions of the thesis must also have practical relevance and be developed in dialogue with both the research community and businesses in Småland. Empirically, however, the research may draw on organisations in the public sector and/or civil society as well as businesses. This is to develop an understanding of issues such as management control of collaboration or those relating to the delivery of public services by private and/or civil society actors.
